The James Hall Museum of Transport houses a wonderful collection of land transport vehicles. This page contains photographs and details of some of the Fire Engines housed within the museum.

The museum also boasts a fabulous collection of photographs depicting land transport vehicles in their heyday.

A section of the museum is dedicated Fire-Fighting equipment with an outstanding collection and array of magnificent Fire Engines ranging from a 1913 Merryweather Steam Pump to the 1947 Dennis with an 8-cylinder Rolls-Royce engine. There is also a 1936 Magirus Deutz with an extension ladder of 45 metres.

Other fire-fighting artefacts include buckets, hoses, fire alarms, hand pumps and extinguishers as well as the original alarm board and switch box mechanism from the Johannesburg Fire Station.
